Conventional Judaism will not allow interfaith marriages. The Torah states that the young ones of these marriages will be lost to Judaism (Deut. 7:3-4), and experience has revealed the facts of the passage all too well. The 2000 nationwide Jewish Population Survey discovered that just a 3rd of interfaith couples raise kids Jewish, despite increasing efforts into the Reform and communities that are conservative welcome interfaith couples, and that statistic hasn’t changed, in accordance with a 2017 report.

This could reflect the reality that Jews who intermarry are perhaps not profoundly dedicated to their faith into the beginning: if one thing is essential for you, why can you marry somebody who does not share it? Definitely, the data reveal that intermarried Jews are overwhelmingly less inclined to be concerned in Jewish tasks: 85percent of Jewish partners have or attend a Pesach seder, while just 41percent of intermarried Jews do; 66% of Jewish partners fast on Yom Kippur while just 26% of intermarried Jews do; 59% of Jewish partners are part of a synagogue while only 15% of intermarried Jews do.
